Most of the universities and the institutes conduct their own entrance exams as well as national level entrance exams for admissions to their programmes. Following are the main entrance exams that need to be taken for admission to various colleges and universities in Bangalore, Karnataka:
The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) no longer conducts the Karnataka CET for admission to medical and dental under graduate programmes. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG) has replaced the Karnataka CET from 2013 onwards.
The Government of Karnataka has decided that only CMAT scores will be considered for admission in post graduate MBA management programmes in all AICTE approved institutions and universities from 2013-14 onwards. CMAT is the only test for admission in MBA programmes in AICTE approved institutions and University Departments in Karnataka. All students pursuing MBA admissions in AICTE approved institutions and State Universities shall have to be registered for CMAT 2013-14.
KMAT (Karnataka MBA/MCA Admission Test) is held for admission into Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Computer Application (MCA) programs. The Karnataka Postgraduate Colleges’ Association (KPPGCA) conducts KMAT to fill the management quota seats in the member institutes of KPPGCA.
The Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) conducts the COMEDK UGET (Under Graduate Entrance Test) for candidates aspiring to pursue under graduate courses in Medical, Dental and Engineering Colleges in Karnataka in member institutions of the Consortium (Medical, Dental and Engineering Colleges).
The Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) conducts the COMEDK PGET - (Post Graduate Entrance Test) for Indian national candidates aspiring to pursue post graduate courses in medicine and dentistry in the state of Karnataka, in member institutions of the consortium (Medical and Dental Colleges).
One of the toughest MBA entrance exams that needs to be taken to qualify for admission to the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore and other well-known management institutes like T. A. Pai Management Institute (TAPMI).
