Indian Institute of Information Technology Bagalore
IIIT-B was instituted 1999 as the Indian Institute of Information Technology with its campus located at ITPL. IIIT-B was founded after taking inspiration from the other well established Institutes of National Importance (INI) in India. These INI's include, but are not limited to, the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs).
Initially, the institute offered Post Graduate Diplomas in Information Technology. Becoming a Deemed University in 2005, the institute began conferring students with the degree of Master of Technology. The name of the institute was changed to International Institute of Information Technology before becoming a university.

Placement Cell:
IIIT-B provides sound placement assistance for its M.Tech students. In the pst, some of the students of the institute have gone for doctoral studies at MIT, UC Berkeley, Indiana University, University of Washington and Syracuse University in USA, Paderborn and University of Kaiserslautern in Germany, Trento in Italy, and IIIT-B and BITS Pilani in India.
